作为从演员转型导演的成功范例，徐静蕾看待事物的角度是与众不同的。当她亲眼看到被海啸肆虐后的兰卡人民的家园后，在写真集中写道：“那些至今我们都不知道为何形成的据说是由造物主的鬼斧神工而造就的奇观异景，……有时的确是美丽的，的确是令人伫足的，然而我们为什么要那么热爱它呢，……我宁愿赞美我们这些顽强而有幸生存下来的生命们，而不是一味的赞美它，或者献媚的说：大自然，我爱你，我多么多么的热爱你。”      徐静蕾写在前面的话      http://book.sina.com.cn/nzt/ent/xujinglei/1.shtml       经过两年的时间，《一个陌生女人的来信》终于走过了她总要经过的路，酝酿，出生，公之于众。今年的3月她终于公映了，其间，我得到了很多朋友得帮助，李屏宾老师，姜文老师，曹久平老师，等等，还我的那些聪明漂亮的女朋友们，总是在我急需要各种跑龙套的小角色的时候及时的出现；也经历了无数次几近崩溃的过程，对自己的许多弱点的发现而又无力改变的不安；终于理解了在中国做导演是多么庞杂的工作，庞杂到经常脑子里一片空白；要去追究多少本来不该我们来追究的细枝末节的工作，到最后发现有很多事情是以我现在的能力和耐心所无力解决的；真正发生在我们所说的电影艺术范畴的事情其实少的可怜，这话说出来自己都略有些寒心并且生发出无数次打退堂鼓的意思。当然，我知道应该坚持，所以事实上也就坚持下来了，尽管坚持到经常自己觉得走到死胡同里去了。本来还有一些话想在这本书里和我的读者分享，但是鉴于每个人对一件事情不同的出发点，鉴于我国日益进步但仍然脆弱的电影工业，鉴于每个人（包括我自己）心里都没有对“对事不对人”这句话的宽容和理解，我准备把一些话噎在肚子里，过许久以后再说吧。因此，我对《一个陌生女人的来信》这部电影已经没有什么可以公之于众的话要说了，可以说的都在今年三月之前的无数次采访中说完了。       今年年初，由于曾经在《来信》中赞助我们珠宝的劳德公司的毛总的引荐下，我成为斯里兰卡的旅游形象大使，并且决定将已经几年没有拍的第三本写真集到斯里兰卡拍摄，本来我是想每年都拍一本的，以次记录下我每一年的样子和心情，但由于前两年一直忙于拍我的两部电影而一直没有成行，在经过心力交瘁的《来信》发行之后，我决定把斯里兰卡的写真排上日程，也算出去散散心吧。       感谢斯里兰卡大使馆和斯里兰卡旅游局的热情邀请和款待，我和我的同事们因而有了一个非常愉快地旅行。

斯里兰卡旅游形象大使徐静蕾：以前对斯里兰卡所知甚少，只知道她是印度边上的一个小国，这次的行程使我对她有了比较深入的了解。     印象最深的就是兰卡的人民，他们清澈善良单纯的眼睛，在我们短短的行程里一直伴随着我们，给这个娇小美丽的国家增添了巨大的魅力，使之像他们所盛产的宝石一样发出温和但绚烂的光芒，兰卡是佛教重要的传播地，佛教也是她们的国教，全国上下的善男信女也是一个颇为壮观的景象，那些温醇的眼神恐怕也是来自于有着笃定信仰的内心，这是在我所去过的国家中没有看到过的，因而觉得十分珍贵。      又到海边了，上一次看海是在拍《来信》的时候，我不得不承认有时候见到海的确是让人浑身觉得舒展的事情，尽管我一直对自然界的景观不是很以为然。那些至今我们都不知道为何形成的据说是由造物主的鬼斧神工而造就的奇观异景，广阔无边的宇宙，有时的确是美丽的，的确是令人伫足的，然而我们为什么要那么热爱它呢，上亿年来，人类以及地球上的生命不停的在和它斗争，当然，我们，人类以及一些其他的生物，我们幸存了下来，我宁愿赞美我们这些顽强而有幸生存下来的生命们，而不是一味的赞美它，或者献媚的说：大自然，我爱你，我多么多么的热爱你。我们爱它什么呢，虎视眈眈的岩浆口？随时都可能呼啸而来的海潮？埋葬了无数生命的峭壁涯底？就在不久前，海啸袭击了印度洋沿岸和其他一些地方，无数的生命瞬间被剥夺了生存的权利，在斯里兰卡，我们看到了被海啸摧毁的树木和房屋，脑子里浮现出发生这一惨剧时的情景，在这个世界上的一些地方，又有那么多人失去了自己的亲人朋友，这是我们不愿接受也必须要接受的现实；而在这个世界的另一些地方，人们在自相残杀，打开电视，每一天世界的各个角落都有不同的惨剧发生--战争，恐怖主义，天灾人祸。   
在我们所生存的世界，美丽与威胁并存，希望生命因此而进化因此而更加顽强，也希望战争和互相伤害永远从我们的世界里消失。   
斯里兰卡是一个多民族并存的国家，其中僧加罗人占74%，泰米尔人18%，穆斯林7%，还有1%由市民（荷兰和葡萄牙殖民者的后裔）和其他种族的人组成。       在斯里兰卡，有多种宗教并存，常常在一条街上可以看到三种以上的宗教建筑，并且互相都很友善。宗教：佛教占70%，印度教占16%,基督教占7%，伊斯兰教占7%.3/25 7:30早饭。参观孤儿院。      
这次的行程中有一个小小的误会，在出发前我们有一个时间安排计划表，当中写到我们第一天的参观地点将是一个孤儿院，我们想当然的认为是因为海啸许多孩子没有了家失去了父母而建的孤儿院，结果到了地方才发现是当地非常有名的“大象孤儿院”。大象收容所　　　很久以前，斯里兰卡曾有40,000多头亚洲象在广阔的原野上游牧。但随着时光的消逝，动物王国中的大象数量大大减少。如今只仅存2000头，而且只有三分之二为野生大象。皮尼瓦拉大象公园(Pinnewala Elephant Park)距离科伦坡只有一个小时的车程，公园内饲养着60多头大象，有些还是幼象。这个公园为无家可归的大象提供了一个栖息的居所，同时也训练牠们做一些工作。收容所饲养这么多大象并不是一件轻松的工作，每5个小时要喂牠们一次和每天洗澡两次。　　在文化俱乐部进午餐，参观寺庙。晚上去Polonnaruwa的Deer Park Hotel。      
我们回来后没多久，中国到斯里兰卡已经有了直航的线路，这无疑给想去斯里兰卡旅游的游客提供了很大的方便，也希望通过这本书能让更多的游客了解斯里兰卡这个美丽的国家和善良好客的人民，希望能为兰卡海啸后的重建工作尽自己的一份微薄之力。　　十分抱歉这本书里没有更多的文字，现在我正在准备自己的第三部电影，这本书的文字也是一拖再拖，终于拖不过去了。到目前为止，新的电影的进展并不顺利，一切都在努力之中，希望可以在年底年初顺利开机。　　感谢一直以来支持我的观众和读者朋友，感谢静盟的朋友们，很多年以来你们给了我很多很多的鼓励，令我在即使是很郁闷的时候也会感到你们温暖和坚定的支持。所有的一切都会过去，我们也都将继续成长，希望现在和即将发生的一切都将是我们在很多年以后美好的回忆，既然人不可避免的总是要不断的回忆，无论年轻或是年老，那么希望我们的回忆里没有遗憾。2004年飞快的过去了，2005年也过了一多半，希望大家在将来的每一天里都快乐和充实。
